Maryland women's basketball defeats George Mason 86-77

The Maryland women's basketball team defeated the undefeated George Mason Patriots 86-77 on Sunday afternoon.

The Terps trailed by six points with just under six minutes to play in the third quarter when Bri McDaniel went down with an injury and had to be helped off the court. However, Maryland responded with a decisive 18-7 run to close the quarter, capped off by a buzzer-beating layup from Shyanne Sellers.

The Terps carried their momentum into the fourth quarter and pulled away for the victory. Sellers led Maryland with a career-high 28 points and 13 rebounds, while Faith Masonius added 20 points. Freshman Emily Fisher also played a key role for the Terps, particularly after McDaniel's injury. She finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

George Mason was led by Taylor Jameson, who had 14 points.

With the win, Maryland improved to 6-3 on the season. They will next face Northwestern in their BIG 10 opener on Friday, December 15th.
